Dr Ashok Panagariya, eminent neurologist and former principal, SMS Medical College and vice-chancellor, Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, has been appointed as Professor Emeritus SMS University Medical College, Jaipur. Dr Panagariya has a distinguished academic career with outstanding research in the field of neurology. At the moment he is the only Indian editor in the Year book of Neurology and Neurosurgery. He has been highly respected as an outstanding teacher for last 30 years. Dr Panagariya who is also presently the President, Indian Academy of Neurology, was awarded the prestigious B.C Roy gold medal for his contributions in the field of Neurology and service to the society. Earlier on superannuation the state government honored him by appointing him as the permanent member of the State Planning Board for advising the government on health policies.
